Dearest Chavez and Cordova Family:  I was so sorry to hear that beautiful Sylvia lost her battle with cancer.  I know she fought long and hard and had tremendous courage.  I know she had the will to live because of the love of her family.  I know she was very loved and adored by her large family and had a wonderful, blessed life.  I am sorry that I could not be there or send my cookies that I know she always loved.  She shared our grandmother's tamale recipe with me years ago and I make them every year in my grandmother and mother's honor.  I bring out their photos, light candles, and play Mexican music, Pedro Infante, Pepe Aguilar, Jorge Negrete, Javier Solis - I call on their spirits to help me make my tamales and it is always an emotional time for me.  I tie them like I was taught, they are not folded and I add the black olive and camote in some as they also did.  From now on, I will include a photo of beautiful Sylvia and she will be part of my tradition.  I will always remember her beautiful smile and laughter.  She was 100% kind hearted and very thoughtful.  She is now an angel who will continue to watch over her loving family.  Always, cousin Julia Pereyra (Sisneros)
