Robert “Moby” Camarena was born on August 21, 1972 and passed away February 23, 2022. He was born and raised on the Tule River Indian Reservation and attended Saint Anne’s School, Porterville High School and the University of Phoenix online.

Robert “Moby” Camarena was born on August 21, 1972 and passed away February 23, 2022. He was born and raised on the Tule River Indian Reservation and attended Saint Anne’s School, Porterville High School and the University of Phoenix online.

Moby was the Land Assignment Director for the Tule River Tribe for the past 9 years, worked at Eagle Mountain Casino and served on the Tule River Tribe’s Gaming Commission as well as the Tribe’s Education Board in prior years. You could often find him golfing, bowling, playing softball or barbecuing, and he loved to sing karaoke, watch MMA, Raiders Football and spending time with his family and friends.

Moby is survived by his brother Scott Mears of Tulare and his children Merrissa Day of Porterville, Isaac Camarena of the Tule River Indian Reservation, Jenelle Camarena, Rayanna Camarena, Mya Camarena, Aryanna Camarena and his Granddaughter Kaia Skylar Day all of Porterville.

Moby was preceded in death by his mother Milly Mae Santos, his father Bobby Camarena, his brother Barney James Mears and his grandparents Bob and Zelma Santos.

The Visitation will take place on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 2pm-4pm at the Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center with escorts departing to the Reservation at 4pm followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm at Mater Dolorosa. Mass of Resurrection will take place on Saturday, March 5 at 10am at Mater Dolorosa followed by interment at the Lower Reservation Cemetery.

A Go-Fund-Me will be set up to help his family pay off additional expenses.
