On Thursday, February 10, 2022, Rene Anthony Silva, passed away at the age of 68 at Rehabilitation Sierra View Care Center. Rene was born on July 30, 1953, in the old Porterville Hospital to Irene Camacho and Benny E. Silva.
Rene attended Olive Street Elementary, Bartlett Junior High and graduated from Citrus High School. He earned certificates in welding and electronics. He was also self-employed in lawn service.
Like his father, Benny, he was a Jack of all Trades in the technical field. Rene loved to tinker around with his dad’s 57 Chevy, and all that was electronic. He was a quick learner and dove into technical problems that arose to help family and friends. He was not afraid to tackle what many would consider the impossible.
Rene worked for the Gaming Commission repairing VCR’s and grappled with other electrical tasks. For over twenty years, he worked as an agricultural technician for the Williams Ranch in Terra Bella, and later worked a few more years in Lindsay making irrigation fixtures before retiring.
Rene was a great son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who spoke freely about life, politics, and provided us with the best advice he could give. He was always generous with his time with family and friends. To those closest to him, he was a protector, bodyguard, and faithful friend. Rene was the life of the party by only having to graciously attend the event. He was our rock star!
Rene had a love and passion for animals, especially stray cats, and dogs. There were many times that he would find a stray cat or dog and give them water, food, and shelter. He provided these beautiful pets with companionship and love. Sadly, the animal kingdom has lost one of their loving advocates.
Rene provided so many of us with joy and laughter. Just as he gave and received unconditional love from the animals that he helped along his journey; he would also give this same love to those around him. Rene was an individual that made all of us feel good about ourselves. He recharged our human spirit till ‘the cup runneth over.’ That was his essence as a beautiful human being.
We have a loving, beautiful and humorous angel who is going to watch after us now. Mugsy, his beloved pet dog, greeted Rene as he entered the Pearly Gates. Rene is among the heavenly stars watching over God’s animal kingdom with Mugsy at his side.
Rene was preceded in death by his father, Ben E. Silva, and his brother, Benny Silva, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Irene Camacho, his siblings, Vincent Moreno, Sandra Manning Perez, Ruben Silva, Ritchie Silva, Debra Casio, Larry Silva, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
