February 4, 1928 - January 21, 2022

Donna Jean Klassen was called to her heavenly home on Friday, January 21, 2022. She would have been 94 years old on February 4. Donna loved the Lord, her church, her family and her friends wholeheartedly. She was a tireless worker and always ready to serve wherever there was a need. Her career at the State Developmental Center, where she daily loved and cared for her patients, spanned 24 years. During the fifty-seven years that Donna was a member of Porterville Church of the Nazarene, she served in, and/or, led the following ministries: Adult Singles, Sunday School, Caravans, Funeral dinners, Prime Time Ladies’, and Healthy Hearts Exercise Program. Donna was often used by the Lord to encourage others with her thoughtful and tender words, readings, and musings.

Donna was married to her first husband, Donald E. Meister, for fourteen years. They were blessed with five children: Donald Meister, Jr. (Johnna); Carolyn Satter (Ralph); Peggy Ray (Jeff); Greg Meister (Janet); and Bruce Meister (Beverly). She was a loving grandmother to Steven Meister (Jennifer R.); Doug Meister (Tracie); Cara Helmick (Travis); Christen Myers (Steve); Cammie Satter; Carrie Ray; Levi Ray (Jennifer); Jeremy Meister (Nadege); Gregory Meister (Jennifer); Kevin Meister; Kirsten La Tour (Travis); Amy Dawkins; Emily Bevins (Jeff) and Stacy Meister. She was blessed with a large host of great grandchildren who were immensely loved. Donna also leaves behind her nephews, Chris and Doug Sutt, and niece Maureen and their families, all greatly loved. Donna’s family and friends were all grateful recipients of her wonderful love, the delight she took in each individual person, and the heartfelt and strong prayers she poured over each one.

Donna was blessed with her second husband, Harold Klassen, in 1978. They enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage for almost thirty years. Harold, and his daughter, Cammie Kliewer (Wes), became much loved members of our family. Harold deeply loved his new family and treated them as if they were his own. The years that Harold and Cammie were a part of our family have left us with many cherished memories. Preceding Donna in death were her parents, Norris and Ethel Sutt; brothers Bobby and Billy Sutt; husband, Harold Klassen and his daughter Cammie Kliewer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Porterville Church of the Nazarene on Friday, February 11th , at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 10, at 1:15 p.m. at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. The viewing is on Wednesday, Feb 9th , from 4-6 p.m. at The Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center.
